Data Cabling Technician

As Data Cabling, you will ensure aviation safety by installing and managing the data cabling within skeyes.

What does a skeyes Data Cabling Technician do?

You are responsible for the installation of the data cabling within skeyes. This includes:

  • determining whether the installation will be performed by skeyes or an external firm in consultation with the head of the data cabling cell.
  • drawing up the specifications, comparing the received offers and determining the company that will be responsible for the installation in consultation with the head of the data cabling cell.
  • ensuring the administrative preparation of the construction sites.
  • being responsible for the general, daily on-site monitoring of the construction sites in terms of planning, speed and execution of the work.
  • managing external employees.
  • reporting possible problems and the state of affairs to the head of the data cabling cell.

You manage the data cabling within skeyes. This includes:

  • working and assembling cable trays and cable ways.
  • laying cables in cable trays and cable ways.
  • making passages in walls and ceilings.
  • mounting connectors on cables.
  • installing the distribution box and the connection panels.
  • measuring all types of cable connections.
  • managing and keeping the MCS database up-to-date.
  • managing, localizing and following up the data cabling for installations of skeyes in Brussels Airport and in the regional airports.
  • managing the KLIM/KLIP system and related GpsRtk-readings.
  • performing technical measurements regarding quality and performance of the cabling;
  • detecting and identifying anomalies in the data cabling - solving data cabling problems.

You are responsible for preparing and following up the purchase files in the context of data cabling.

  • contacting potential suppliers and organising price enquiries;
  • negotiating price offers with suppliers and making agreements on, among other things, technical conformity of the requested products, quality requirements, planning and purchase prices;
  • allocating a purchase file to a certain supplier in consultation with the manager;
  • following up and controlling the delivery of the purchases;
  • inventory management;
  • analysis and approval of the invoices;
  • ensuring an accurate knowledge of the market and suppliers.

You support all parties that come into contact with the skeyes data cabling service and represent the service.

You take part, in rotation, in an on-call duty to take the necessary steps, in case of unexpected problems with the data cabling, to restore the data cabling of the operational equipment as quickly as possible, thus contributing to the maximum safety of aviation.

Candidate profile

What makes you the perfect Data Cabling Technician? 

  • you hold at least an A2 degree, preferably specialised in electricity. Experience in cabling is a plus;
  • you have a thorough theoretical and practical knowledge of data cabling (fibre, UTP, Cu) and PCs and servers experience;
  • it is not a problem for you to work in an on-call duty;
  • you are highly motivated and eager to learn about a speciality and have a sense of initiative;
  • you are creative and dynamic;
  • you are stress-resistant;
  • you are a team player but can also work independently;
  • you have a good knowledge of French, Dutch and English;
  • you have a category B driving licence.
