En Route Ops Performance Specialist

Aiming to have Belgian airspace available as much and as widely as possible where and when it is most needed for skeyes by:

  • ensuring direct guidance of the Flow Management Position(s) in the operational decisions when aligning traffic load, the actual ATCO resources and the available parts of the Belgian airspace;
  • ensuring the process from the post-operational analyses to the recommendations and action points in response to past occurrences, events and problem situations;
  • analysing with a view to strategic and pre-tactical initiatives to improve the overall capacity for the processing of air traffic volumes/load.

What does a skeyes En Route OPS Performance Specialist do?

  • Internal support

Supporting the ongoing operations through guidance and systematic follow-up & adjustment of the Flow Management Position(s) (FMP).

  • Process management

Ensuring post-operational analyses, consultation & reporting, including recommendations and action points in response to past events, problem situations and exceptional occurrences with the aim of providing all parties involved with points of improvement and solutions.

  • Continuous improvement

Making analyses with the aim of strategic and pre-tactical initiatives, ensuring the development & provision of tools, procedures and training. E.g. developing the ultimate data model with the correct definitions and relationships between the relevant data required for all ATFCM related or based actions, analyses, decisions and reporting.

  • Identification of needs

Identifying operational & pre-tactical needs for ICT tools, access to technical operational data, procedures & instructions with the aim of validating, prioritising these solutions and work tools and a strategic action plan and ensuring project-based development and implementation.

  • Recommendation of training programmes

Ensuring, together with Ops management, the necessary training programmes and awareness initiatives to increase the global knowledge level among traffic managers & supervisors, at Ops management and among team leader(s) and ATCOs and to align the operational processes more inherently and more closely to a correct ATFCM oriented policy.

  • Interaction with external working groups/organisations

Representing skeyes in international forums that are of strategic importance to skeyes, depending on his/her/their abilities, with the aim of keeping up to date with important developments in his/her working domain, reporting useful information and evaluating the situation of other administrations, including the representation of skeyes on the Network Manager User forum, FABEC.

  • National RAD Coordination (RAD, Route Availability Document)

The National RAD Coordinator’s role (NRC) is to act as a direct link between the NM RAD team and skeyes to coordinate the collection, management and publication of the RAD relevant to skeyes. The role and responsibilities of an NRC are part of the ERNIP (European Route Network Improvement Plan).

  • National ENV Coordination

The National ENV Coordinator’s role (NEC) is to act as a direct link between the NM and skeyes to coordinate data provision and data validation with the NM. The NEC shall ensure the necessary coordination within skeyes to ensure the overall process of the ANSP side for the delivery of all required Central Airspace and Capacity Database (CACD) data for the ATFCM function (AIP & non-AIP data).

Candidate profile

What makes you the ideal En Route OPS Performance Specialist?

  • You hold preferably a Bachelor’s, Engineer’s or Master’s degree (in aviation management, aeronautical engineering, air traffic control, or a related field would be a plus) or you have relevant experience as ATCO or ATFCM specialist.
  • You have strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets and identify trends and patterns.
  • You are skilled in data analysis tools and software, as well as in airspace analysis tools, or you have the capacity and motivation to learn them quickly.
  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
  • You have the unique ability to explain complex concepts or structures in an understandable and simple way, allowing you to support training, among other things.
  • You have knowledge of ATM regulations, procedures and standards (e.g. ICAO, AIP, SERA, EUROCONTROL).
  • You are familiar with principles of airspace design, air traffic flow management and ATM automation technologies.
  • You have the ability to plan your work efficiently and meet tight deadlines.
