Operational Project Manager

Contribute to the successful implementation of the project portfolio by executing the operational projects in a structured manner so that the projects are delivered on time and with the available resources.

What does a skeyes Operational Project Manager do?

Drawing up a project plan in consultation with the parties involved (managers, experts,...) to ensure that operational projects are implemented in a structured manner, that all necessary parties are represented, all required expertise is available and all elements are taken into account. This includes among other things:

  • defining the scope and objectives of the project;
  • identifying material, human and financial resources and verifying that these are or will be available;
  • identifying material, human and financial resources and verifying that these are or will be available;
  • elaborating and writing out the various steps to be completed in sequence or in parallel within the project trajectory;
  • defining the parties involved and the time needed for each step;
  • identifying, neutralising or controlling and reporting the risk factors that may lead to delays or blockages in project implementation;
  • defining the (critical) success factors to measure the progress of the project on a regular basis.

Follow up the project plan and support the Project Team in its implementation. This includes among other things:

  • organising and facilitating workshops and meetings;
  • doing the necessary to have all the necessary expertise and relevant documentation available;
  • making sure that all parties involved are informed about the state of affairs, the progress of the reflection processes, the proposals and the decisions taken;
  • following up on the project plan and risks so that the project progresses and is delivered within the set planning (in terms of deliverables, time and budget) and with the available resources;
  • ensuring timely and frequent validation of all trains of thought, proposals and concepts presented;
  • reporting to the Senior Manager Projects on the content and status of the project.

Direct follow-up up to and including the formal handover after the implementation of the project to ensure its integration in daily activities without negatively affecting them in terms of quality, performance, safety guarantees, etc. This includes among other things:

  • ensuring follow-up for a predetermined period after implementation;
  • inserting a final evaluation;
  • ensuring a formal hand-over after this period.

Draw up a communication plan in consultation with the relevant stakeholders. This communication plan will provide for the practical organisation of all formal and informal information flows, both regular and ad hoc.

Lead the project staff. This includes among other things:

  • optimising the operation of the project;
  • drawing up budgets and ensuring that they are followed up;
  • developing tools for managing the project;
  • organising and planning the distribution of responsibilities and tasks and monitoring their achievement;
  • stimulating both individual motivation and teamwork.

Candidate profile

What makes you our ideal Operational Project Manager?

  • you are an operational project manager with ideally at least 5 years of experience, preferably within Air Traffic Control and/or Management;
  • with your knowledge and expertise in project management, you make sure that the different projects are managed successfully;
  • you hold:
    • Prince2 certification
  • you have a thorough knowledge of:
    • Air Traffic Control and Air Traffic Management
  • you have a good grasp of:
    • Airspace procedures, management and organisation
    • ATM related systems such as ATCO HMI, AMAN, Radar Technologies, voice and navigation systems;
    • EASA and ATM compliance aspects.
  • you have experience in defining and describing processes and procedures;
  • you have strong functional analytical skills and a hands-on mentality;
  • with your customer and service-oriented attitude, you bring that little bit extra;
  • you communicate fluently and adapt your communication style to your target audience;
  • you have a very good knowledge of English and good knowledge of Dutch and French.
