IT PMO Officer

What does a skeyes IT PMO Officer do?

For the implementation of all projects in DG CIO, managed by Project Managers (PM’s), are followed by the IT Project Management Office (IT PMO).

The IT PMO officer is a centralized function within an organization that standardizes, governs, and supports how IT projects are managed and delivered. Its role goes beyond admin support—it actively improves execution, alignment, and outcomes of technology initiatives.

Governance & Standards

The IT PMO defines how projects should be run:

  • Methodologies (Agile, Waterfall, hybrid)
  • Templates, tools, and processes
  • Stage gates and approval flows

This ensures consistency across all IT projects instead of every team doing its own thing.

Project Oversight & Control

The PMO monitors ongoing projects to keep them on track:

  • Tracking timelines, budgets, risks, and scope
  • Providing dashboards and reporting
  • Escalating issues early

Think of it as the “control tower” for IT delivery.

Resource Management

It coordinates the use of scarce IT resources:

  • Allocating project managers, developers, analysts
  • Resolving conflicts between projects
  • Forecasting future capacity needs

Support & Capability Building

The PMO supports project teams by:

  • Coaching project managers
  • Providing tools (e.g., Jira, MS Project)
  • Training in best practices

A good PMO raises the overall maturity of project delivery.

Risk & Compliance Management

The IT PMO ensures:

  • Risks are identified and mitigated
  • Proper documentation is maintained

Support Portfolio Management

It helps leadership decide which IT projects to prioritize and fund:

  • Aligning projects with business strategy
  • Managing dependencies across initiatives
  • Balancing resources and budgets

In short: making sure the right projects get done—not just that projects get done right.
