EN ROUTE OPS PERFORMANCE SPECIALIST

Making Belgian airspace available, as much and as widely as possible, where and when it is most needed by skeyes, by:

  • ensuring direct guidance of the Flow Management Position(s) in operational decisions when coordinating traffic load, actual ATCO resources and available parts of Belgian airspace;
  • managing the process from post-operational analyses to recommendations and action points following past events, incidents and problem situations;
  • analysing with a view to developing strategic and pre-tactical initiatives to improve the overall capacity for processing air traffic volumes/load.

What does an En Route OPS Performance Specialist do at skeyes?

  • In-company support

Supporting ongoing operations through guidance and systematic monitoring and adjustment of the Flow Management Position(s) (FMP).

  • Process management

Being responsible for post-operational analyses, consultation and reporting, including recommendations and action points following past events, (exceptional) incidents and problem situations, with the aim of providing all parties involved with areas for improvement and solutions.

  • Continuous improvement

Conducting analyses with the aim of developing strategic and pre-tactical initiatives, ensuring the development and provision of tools, procedures and training. This includes developing the ultimate data model with the correct definitions and relationships between the relevant data necessary for all ATFCM-related or -based actions, analyses, decisions and reporting.

  • Identification of needs

Identifying operational and pre-tactical requirements for ICT tools, access to technical and operational data, procedures and instructions with the aim of validating and prioritising these solutions and working tools, drawing up a strategic plan of action and ensuring project-based development and implementation.

  • Recommendation of training programmes

Together with Ops management, being responsible for the necessary training programmes and awareness initiatives to increase the overall level of knowledge among traffic managers & supervisors, Ops management and team leaders, and ATCOs, and to align operational processes more inherently and strongly with a correct ATFCM-oriented policy.

  • Interaction with external working groups/organisations

Representing skeyes at international forums that are of strategic importance to skeyes, in accordance with his/her/their competences, with the aim of keeping abreast of important developments in his/her/their field of work, reporting useful information and evaluating the situation of other administrations, including representing skeyes at the Network Manager User forum, FABEC.

  • National RAD (Route Availability Document) Coordination

The role of National RAD Coordinator (NRC) is to act as a direct link between the NM RAD team and skeyes in order to coordinate the collection, management and publication of RAD relevant to skeyes. The role and responsibilities of an NRC are part of the ERNIP (European Route Network Improvement Plan).

  • National ENV Coordination

The role of National ENV Coordinator (NEC) is to act as a direct link between the NM and skeyes in order to coordinate data provision and data validation with the NM. The NEC ensures the necessary coordination within skeyes to guarantee the overall process on the ANSP side for the delivery of all required Central Airspace and Capacity Database (CACD) data for the ATFCM function (AIP & non-AIP data).

Candidate profile

What makes you the perfect En Route OPS Performance Specialist?

  • you preferably have a bachelor's, engineering or master's degree in aviation management, aviation engineering, air traffic control or a related field. Relevant experience as an ATCO or ATFCM specialist is a strong advantage;
  • you have strong analytical skills, are able to interpret complex data sets, recognise trends and patterns, and formulate recommendations based on critical evaluation;
  • you are familiar with data and airspace analysis tools, or you have the motivation and learning ability to quickly master them;
  • you have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and work well with multidisciplinary teams, both internally and externally;
  • you have a talent for explaining complex concepts and structures clearly and simply, which enables you to support training and knowledge sharing within skeyes;
  • you have knowledge of ATM regulations, procedures and standards such as ICAO, AIP, SERA and EUROCONTROL;
  • you are familiar with the principles of air traffic flow management (ATFCM), airspace design and ATM automation technologies;
  • you are able to plan your work well, set priorities and meet deadlines, even in a dynamic operational context.
