What does a skeyes Technician Data Communications (Technical Watch Office) do?

As our Data Communications Technician, you will ensure aviation safety by maintaining, optimising and installing the systems within the domain of Networks, Operational IT and Data Comm. Furthermore, you will monitor all Communication, Navigation & Surveillance/Air Traffic Management/Meteorology systems in the Technical Watch Office in a 24/7 service. The tasks you will be performing are twofold:

  • Maintaining, optimising and installing systems within the domain of Networks, Operational IT and Data Comm.
    • Carrying out preventive and corrective maintenance works on networks and systems:
    • Monitoring whether the networks and systems are functioning properly, based on the monitoring data;
    • Participating in optimising the existing systems and installing new ones:
      • Proposing optimisations for existing systems.
      • Applying modifications to systems.
      • Cooperating in projects regarding new systems in collaboration with the Project Manager.
      • Cooperating in the installation of new systems.
  • Monitoring all systems in the Technical Watch Office in order to guarantee their optimal functioning:
    • Serving as a central point of contact for all connected customers and systems.
    • Surveying the equipment.
    • Locating and identifying anomalies.
    • Coordinating the interventions for corrective maintenance depending on the located anomalies and carrying out the interventions on the systems within one’s own area of expertise.
    • Following up the actions undertaken and informing the actors involved of the systems’ status.
    • Maintaining a reliable database of the events (trouble-ticketing, electronic logbook).

Candidate profile

What makes you the perfect Technician Data Communications (Technical Watch Office)?

  • You hold a Bachelor's degree in an IT-related field or have a first relevant work experience.
  • Experience in IT networking and Cisco is an asset.
  • You speak Dutch or French with a working knowledge of English and at least a basic knowledge of the second national language.
  • You have a strong learning ability and are willing to follow additional training courses.
  • You are flexible and comfortable in changing circumstances.
  • You have a great sense of responsibility and an eye for detail.
  • You are a problem solver and can cope with stress factors.
  • You are a real team player and socially oriented.
