Construction projects or installations in Belgium that may pose a risk to aviation safety are subject to assessment by the Urbanism service of skeyes.
In the context of permitting procedures, skeyes issues expert opinions on the potential impact on air navigation, which are integrated into the decision-making process by the competent authorities.
The Urbanism service of skeyes issues two types of opinions: preliminary opinions and official opinions.
Preliminary opinions can be requested directly from the Urbanism service of skeyes by any interested party.
Official opinions can only be gained through the Belgian Civil Aviation Authority (BCAA). This authority delivers to the interested party a coordinated opinion, which includes input from:
In all cases, the Urbanism service of skeyes can only provide an opinion once the required application forms have been duly completed by the interested party. These forms are provided in the section “Opinion Request” on the following pages.
